Taylor Bissey
Taylor Bissey is a creative currently based in Seattle, WA. She recently completed her BFA in Photography and Imaging at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University in May of 2020. Born and raised in Seattle, Taylor has been rediscovering her love of the Pacific Northwest's pleasant summer weather and enjoying a longer ski season after what was supposed to be a short spring break trip turned in a relocation.
Her recent work looks into how community identity is realized and/or rejected. She works with a a variety of mediums from 4x5 large format film to video depending on a project's calling.
She is currently working on a long form documentary series revolving around the Asociación de Charros de San Antonio, the first Charros Association in the United States founded in 1947. She stumbled upon the figure of the charro while taking portraits in Jackson Heights, Queens.
She currently looks to the works of Ansel Adams, Marie Cosindas, Michael Christopher Brown (@michaelchristopherbrown) and Ivan McClellan (@eightsecs) for inspiration.
